Protesters in Tel Aviv Highlight Palestinian Children's Detention
Activists from the "Parents Against the Arrest of Palestinian Children" organization staged a protest in Tel Aviv on the morning of the new school year's opening. Participants, wearing yellow vests and holding "Stop!" signs, briefly halted traffic and distributed leaflets. Their action aimed to remind passersby that not all children are returning to school, drawing attention to Palestinian minors held in Israeli detention.
Titi Carmiel, the organization's Director-General, stated that hundreds of Palestinian children are currently imprisoned in Israel, many under administrative detention without trial. He emphasized that on a day symbolizing new beginnings, the protest served to highlight children whose routines of study, life, and family have been disrupted. "Our message is simple: enough with the arrests of children. A child is a child," Carmiel said.
