Dimon Residents Battle Bureaucracy Over Missile Damage Repairs

Five months after a missile strike during a round of fighting damaged an apartment in Dimona, the two female residents, a 20-year-old woman and her 58-year-old mother, who is disabled and deaf, are describing severe distress and a bureaucratic deadlock with authorities. The residents report ongoing damage in their Amidar housing company apartment, including broken tiles, rain leaks, kitchen and bathroom damage, and ant infestations. They claim they are being passed between different agencies, with only cosmetic repairs being made.

The younger resident expressed frustration, stating, "I feel that no one is listening to us or taking us seriously." She detailed Amidar's proposed repairs, such as replacing individual tiles in a "checkerboard" pattern, using tape on shower tiles, and inadequate fixes for broken kitchen cabinets, shower stalls, and bars. Their basic desire, she said, is to have their home properly repaired and their routine restored.

Amidar, however, disputes the residents' claims, asserting that the company has been assisting with the apartment's rehabilitation, including replacing the door, countertops, windows, and performing drywall and electrical work. The company stated that damage to personal belongings and independently installed equipment is the responsibility of property tax authorities, not Amidar. They also claimed that a full floor replacement was not professionally justified.

Amidar further stated that they have been working professionally and diligently on the repairs but have been unable to complete all the work due to a lack of cooperation from the resident. The company added that they are ready to immediately complete the approved repairs.
