Dimona Resident Alleges Brutal Police Assault and Abandonment Near Eilat

A 37-year-old man from Dimona claims he was violently attacked by police officers in Eilat without provocation. According to his account, he was handcuffed on his hands and feet, taken to a mountainous area outside the city, beaten again, and then abandoned by the officers. He described severe injuries including broken front teeth and multiple wounds on his face and body. The man, a member of the Hebrew community, recounted the incident in a video posted on social media, stating he was assaulted despite being restrained and left alone in the mountains, fearing for his life.

He explained that the incident began after he left a club with his nephew and friends when plainclothes officers suddenly detained him. He was told the assault was meant as an example, though he did not understand why. The man said the officers destroyed his phone and ID, preventing him from identifying them. He was later found by emergency medical teams who treated him outside the city.

The Israeli police responded that the officers approached the man following complaints from two women who alleged he harassed them. They said he was arrested after failing to comply with police orders and was released at the scene at his request. Police investigations reportedly found no evidence supporting claims of police brutality. They added that any suspicions of criminal conduct by officers should be referred to the Police Investigations Department for review.

The victim expressed ongoing trauma, physical pain, and difficulty caring for himself, highlighting the emotional toll of the incident and his struggle to explain the situation to his child. He called for accountability and expressed hope that such officers would not continue in their roles.
