Man Charged with Brutal Assault and Robbery of Sex Worker in Central Israel
On August 14, 2026, at around 2:00 a.m., Moshe Elimelech, 28, violently attacked and robbed a 23-year-old sex worker identified as L' in her apartment in central Israel. According to the indictment filed on January 17, 2026, the encounter began as a paid service but quickly escalated after a dispute over price and Elimelech's request to use drugs inside the apartment, which L' refused. When she asked him to leave, Elimelech assaulted her with a 1.5-liter plastic bottle, struck her multiple times with his fists, and threatened to stab and kill her. He then stole two iPhones, her handbag, and thousands of shekels in cash before fleeing.
L' described the attack as a terrifying fight for her life, recalling how Elimelech used a glass pipe to threaten and injure her arm while continuing to beat her with the phones. Despite her injuries, she resisted fiercely, trying to reclaim her belongings, which she said contained her entire life. The police located Elimelech shortly after near Kiryat Ono Mall with cash and receipts for clothes purchased with L's money. He had been released from prison just two days earlier after serving time for property crimes.
L' sought medical treatment two days after the assault for facial injuries, bleeding, swelling, dizziness, and blurred vision. She expressed fear that Elimelech might be released and harm her again, criticizing the lack of protection for women in sex work and calling for greater government support to help them exit the industry. The Tel Aviv District Prosecutor's Office charged Elimelech with aggravated robbery and requested his detention until trial.
