Gilad Erdan Criticizes Netanyahu for Anti-Democratic Remarks on Small Parties

Gilad Erdan, chairman of the Unity Party, sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday for urging voters not to support small parties. Erdan labeled Netanyahu's statement as "anti-democratic" and rejected the claim that a proliferation of parties threatens the right-wing bloc's rule. He argued that Netanyahu is mistaken in portraying votes for small parties as a danger to the right-wing camp.

Erdan referenced the previous government, described as a "full right-wing government," to challenge Netanyahu's assertion. He pointed out that despite the right-wing composition of that government, severe incidents, including thousands of deaths, occurred during its tenure. Erdan's criticism focused on two aspects of Netanyahu's remarks: the call to avoid voting for small parties, which he deemed anti-democratic, and the political claim that multiple right-wing parties could jeopardize the bloc's power.

As head of the Unity Party, Erdan dismissed both points, emphasizing that the number of parties in the right-wing camp does not guarantee the outcomes Netanyahu suggests. He highlighted the heavy price paid during the last term as evidence against Netanyahu's argument.
