Amit Yeshiva in Shomron Wins Ministry of Education Excellence Award

The Amit Yeshiva in Bruchin, located in the Shomron region, has been awarded the Ministry of Education's Excellence Award for the academic year 5786 (2025-2026) in recognition of its outstanding academic, social, and ethical achievements. The award includes a salary grant for the yeshiva staff and highlights significant relative improvement and exceptional accomplishments. This recognition coincides with the yeshiva's tenth anniversary, during which it has shown remarkable growth, now educating approximately 860 students from grades 7 through 12, including nine new seventh-grade classes this year.

The Shomron Regional Council has recently begun implementing a comprehensive five-year education plan with a municipal investment of 50 million shekels to enhance educational institutions amid rapid population growth. The yeshiva serves a broad student population, offering specialized tracks for students with learning and communication difficulties alongside unique excellence programs. It is the first high school in Israel to introduce the Mofet Association's advanced programs in mathematics, English, and physics, in collaboration with Ariel and Bar-Ilan Universities.

In addition to academic excellence, Amit Bruchin leads several leadership and special education tracks, including the "Sanhedrin" Torah track, a national leadership and travel program, and exclusive leadership courses in the state religious education system. Approximately 98% of graduates continue to advanced yeshivot, hesder yeshivot, and pre-military preparatory programs, subsequently serving in combat roles in the IDF. The retention rate of Shomron students in the yeshiva has risen to over 80%, reversing previous dropout trends.

Shomron Regional Council head Yossi Dagan praised the yeshiva as a source of pride for the entire region, emphasizing its role in cultivating high academic standards, leadership, values, love of Torah, and preparation for meaningful IDF service. Yeshiva head Rabbi Avi Shish expressed gratitude for the award, attributing it to the dedicated daily efforts of the educational staff and the belief that every student can reach their highest potential academically, ethically, and in leadership.
