Israeli Police Raid Illegal Gambling Den in Ashdod Seizing Computers and Cash

Israeli police conducted a raid on Wednesday at a business in Ashdod suspected of operating an illegal gambling den. During the search, officers from the Special Patrol Unit (Sahar Brigade) confiscated computers allegedly used for running prohibited gambling games, along with various documents and cash. A person present during the raid was questioned, and the business owner was detained and taken to the police station for further investigation.

Lt. Col. Mati Tzarfati, the operations officer of the Sahar Brigade, stated that this operation is part of an ongoing effort to combat criminal activity and illegal gambling venues. He emphasized the police's determination to continue uncovering such sites and prosecuting those involved.

This raid follows several recent police actions against illegal gambling in Ashdod. In early August, police raided another suspected gambling location where they found playing cards, suitcases filled with chips, and detained five suspects. A few months earlier, a similar operation led to the seizure of 15 computers and surveillance equipment, with the owner and three players taken in for questioning. These repeated efforts highlight the police's sustained crackdown on illicit gambling activities in the city.
