Israeli Police Raid Illegal Gambling Den in Ashdod, Detain Five Suspects

Israeli police from the Ashdod station uncovered an illegal gambling operation in the city on Sunday. Officers arrived at the premises and requested entry, but after the occupants refused, the police forcibly entered the building. Inside, they found several suspects allegedly participating in gambling activities. During the search, authorities seized equipment used to run the illegal gambling, including 28 decks of cards and suitcases containing gaming chips. Five individuals were detained for questioning, including three suspected operators and two participants.

This raid is part of ongoing police efforts to combat illegal gambling houses in southern Israel. In May, Ashdod police raided another location where computers and recording equipment used for gambling were confiscated, leading to the arrest of the operator. Earlier, police and special forces raided a similar site in Ashdod, seizing 15 computers and detaining the owner and three players. Additionally, last week in Ashkelon, police and border guards raided an illegal gambling venue, confiscating bingo game equipment, cash, checks, and other materials, and detaining four suspects. Investigations suggest a senior criminal figure in southern Israel may be behind the management of these illegal gambling operations.
