United Airlines to Resume Direct Flights Between San Francisco and Tel Aviv in March 2027

United Airlines announced plans to restart direct flights between San Francisco and Tel Aviv on March 28, 2027, operating three times weekly. This route revival is part of United's largest international network expansion, adding 10 new international destinations and three new routes. The San Francisco-Tel Aviv connection is particularly significant for Israel as it links directly to the US West Coast and Silicon Valley, a major technology hub. United highlighted that this route will offer more business class seats than any other airline on the same path.

This move comes ahead of El Al's planned launch of its own San Francisco route, set to begin on October 25, 2026, also with three weekly flights, allowing United to operate the route for several months before El Al enters the market. United had suspended its flights from Tel Aviv to San Francisco, Washington, and Chicago on October 7, 2023, due to the war, and has not resumed full operations in Israel since. The San Francisco route is the first to be reinstated.

For Israeli travelers, the resumption means increased capacity and direct access to the US West Coast, with United's extensive network from San Francisco offering onward connections to various destinations in Asia and the US. United currently serves over 160 international destinations, with new routes including San Francisco to Okinawa, Newark to Luxembourg, Marseille, Ibiza, Valencia, Ljubljana, and Washington to Toulouse.
