Report: FIFA Plans Symbolic Israel and Palestine Youth Match
The Guardian reported that FIFA is planning to stage a symbolic opening match between Israel’s and Palestine’s under-15 boys’ teams as part of a new football tournament set to begin in the United States in September.
The proposed match would serve as the tournament opener and would involve youth national teams from both sides. The event was announced by FIFA in December and is not being defined as an official World Cup for that age group.
Even so, the competition is intended to be open to all 211 FIFA member associations. The report did not say whether the match has been finalized, only that FIFA is said to be planning it.
