New Women's Midrasha Opens in Shlomi to Strengthen Northern Community

A new branch of the Akko Women's Midrasha opened in Shlomi on Tuesday, welcoming 55 young women across two classes, including those before and after national service. The branch is led by Rabbi Bat-El Kusovsky, with attorney Yossi Danziger serving as CEO. Kusovsky expressed deep emotion about opening the midrasha in Shlomi, a border town that has experienced turmoil during nearly three years of conflict. She highlighted the personal significance, recalling her brother Benya Rein, who was killed in Lebanon 20 years ago defending northern residents. Kusovsky emphasized that the students chose to study in Shlomi to add strength and spirit to the community, noting the importance of nurturing their spiritual identity and spreading light within the town. The new branch complements the existing Akko midrasha, headed by Rabbi Ofra Stern, and the event included participation from Rabbi Yossi Stern, head of the Hesder Yeshiva in Akko, where the midrasha operates.
