Trump Declares Iran in Collapse Amid Massive Humanitarian Crisis and Economic Sanctions

US President Donald Trump accused the Islamic Republic of Iran of being in a state of collapse, highlighting that large segments of its military are not receiving pay. In a social media post on Tuesday, Trump condemned the Iranian regime for killing protesters, stating the violence extends even to non-protesters at unprecedented levels. He described the situation as a "massive humanitarian crisis" and called for immediate action to stop it.

Trump's comments followed his earlier posts, including one quoting the Iranian parliament speaker saying, "We are hungry, we cannot survive." These statements coincided with the US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant's announcement of the final phase of an economic campaign against Tehran. Bessant declared the start of the "D-Day" economic offensive, calling it the largest financial attack ever against an adversary, aimed at severing all economic lifelines sustaining the Iranian regime.

Bessant linked the sanctions to crippling Iran's military and nuclear capabilities, claiming Trump had dismantled nearly 100% of Iran's military factories and buried its nuclear program. This economic offensive follows Trump's recent declaration of a broader campaign of economic warfare and isolation against Iran, citing Tehran's failure to seize opportunities for a deal with Washington.

Trump also warned countries and entities continuing economic support to Iran, including oil smuggling, cash transfers, money changers, ship registries, and shell companies, urging US allies to join in isolating Tehran economically.
