Israel Detects Fifth Kite Launched From Gaza Amid Calls for Clear Policy

A fifth kite launched from the Gaza Strip was found in Nahal Oz within the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council area, following four similar incidents over the weekend. Uri Epstein, head of the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council, sharply criticized the Israeli security establishment's response, stating that the continued launches indicate the threat is not isolated. He accused Israel of reverting to a policy of containment and reactive measures rather than proactive initiatives. Epstein demanded a clear and unequivocal Israeli policy that any object crossing from Gaza into Israeli territory must be identified and addressed immediately, not only after landing in civilian areas.

Yesterday, after a security briefing involving Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, and senior defense officials, the Prime Minister's office declared that Israel will not return to the pre-October 7 reality. Israel warned Hamas and other Gaza factions that any further threats to Israeli communities will not be tolerated. The statement emphasized that if kite, drone, or balloon launches continue, the IDF will intensify targeted operations against those responsible and evacuate populations from launch areas.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant instructed the IDF to act decisively against these attacks, including targeting Hamas leaders responsible for the launches, evacuating neighborhoods used for launching, and dismantling terror infrastructure. Gallant warned that every launch is considered an act of war and that all organizers and facilitators will face immediate and severe consequences.
