12 Suspects Arrested Over West Bank Village Violence, Arson, and Shooting
Israeli police said six suspects, five of them minors, were arrested overnight Monday on suspicion of setting fire to cars and private property in the Palestinian village of Deir Dibwan in the West Bank, which was raided the previous night. Police asked to hold them for eight days on suspicions including nationalist-motivated arson, conspiracy to commit a crime, conspiracy to carry out terrorism, obstructing a police officer, and racist offenses, but the Petah Tikva Magistrate’s Court extended their detention by only three days. The youngest suspect, a 14-year-old from Kiryat Arba, was released to house arrest because of his age. The suspects fled the village and were arrested nearby, and during questioning they remained silent and gave no account of their actions.
