Trump Marks 80th Birthday at White House UFC Event Costing About $60 Million
U.S. President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday on Sunday evening with a special event on the White House South Lawn. The centerpiece was a mixed martial arts show called "UFC Freedom 250," featuring 14 fighters from around the world inside a cage ring.
About 4,300 people attended, including roughly 1,200 active-duty soldiers, and greeted Trump with loud applause and periodic shouts of "Happy Birthday." Trump left the Oval Office and made an entrance styled like a fighter entering the arena.
Before departing for the G7 summit in France, Trump briefly told reporters, "It was beyond anything anybody has ever seen in sports." According to media reports, the event cost about $60 million.
