Suspects in Eldar Dayan Case Released to House Arrest After Murder Suspicion Collapses

The Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court ordered the release of seven suspects involved in the death of Eldar Dayan to house arrest for three days, following the police's admission that the forensic report did not establish a cause of death. This development led to the collapse of the murder suspicion against the suspects, including key figures Maxim Barberman and Omri Peretz, as well as Yosef Wobnech, Angada Sisai, Almaken Adona, Moshe Reta, and Avraham Vorko.

During the hearing, police representative Sergeant Major Yuri Dobrinsky revealed that a drug party took place at the scene on the day of the incident, which was marked by a violent altercation. The investigation remains ongoing as forensic results are still pending. Defense attorneys argued that their clients were victims themselves, citing injuries sustained during the fight and even an attempted vehicular assault against one suspect. They criticized the police for inconsistent statements and lack of evidence linking their clients to Dayan's death.

Judge Ronen Peleg ruled that, given the inconclusive forensic findings and after considering both sides' arguments, continued detention was unwarranted but imposed restrictive conditions. The suspects' house arrest was limited to full supervision until August 27, 2026, significantly shorter than the 14 days requested by police. Bail was reduced from 10,000 to 5,000 shekels per suspect, and contact with other case participants was prohibited for 30 days.

Earlier, Dayan's aunt expressed deep anguish over the suspects' release, condemning the police and judicial system for failures that delayed finding Eldar's body and hindered justice. She accused authorities of negligence, inconsistent investigations, and allowing suspects to evade accountability. She vowed to continue fighting for truth and justice, emphasizing that "Eldar's blood is not abandoned."

The police confirmed that the body found recently is that of Eldar Dayan, whose death remains under investigation amid conflicting accounts and unresolved questions.
