Mother of Fallen IDF Commander Calls for Investigation to Prevent Future Losses

Nirit Baram, mother of the late Staff Sergeant Neta Baram, commander of the engineering unit at Nahal Oz outpost who was killed on October 7, spoke at a press conference held by the "October Council." She revealed warnings about a return to the previous security concept and shared that her son had warned her that "there will be a war." Baram recalled that on May 15, 2023, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that "Hamas is deterred," a message he repeated in August before the October 7 attack. She emphasized the urgent need for a thorough investigation, stating, "Without investigation, there is no correction, and without correction, another mother will find herself in my place, without a child and with many questions." She also highlighted that the threat is ongoing, noting that "the child who tells his mother he sees Hamas training already exists."
