Father of Fallen Israeli Officer Demands Accountability and State Inquiry Over October 7 Attack

Liad Baram, father of Lieutenant Colonel Neta Baram who was killed on October 7, spoke at an anti-government rally in Tel Aviv's Bima Square. He recounted hearing his son's voice for the last time at 7:18 a.m. on that day, when Neta said, "Dad, I can't talk. There is a war here. I'm taking care of a soldier." Shocked, Liad immediately turned on the television and was devastated by the unfolding events.

Since then, Liad Baram said he has received no answers regarding the circumstances of his son's death and criticized the lack of accountability from officials. He emphasized that neither he nor the public has been given clear explanations or responsibility accepted for the failures that led to the tragedy.

Baram called for the urgent establishment of a state commission of inquiry, describing it as an essential and immediate security necessity rather than a luxury. He stressed that recent developments confirm the critical need for such an investigation to prevent future failures and ensure national security.
