Hapoel Tel Aviv Appoints New Chairman Stav Shacham After Oren Hasson’s Dismissal

Two months after his appointment, Oren Hasson was removed from his position as chairman of Hapoel Tel Aviv. On Monday, the club announced the appointment of Stav Shacham as the new chairman. The club stated that Shacham will serve voluntarily, driven by a deep commitment to the club and a desire to strengthen the bond between the team and its fans, emphasizing the community as essential to Hapoel Tel Aviv’s existence. The club did not specify the reasons for Hasson’s dismissal.

The tension between Hasson and CEO Tzahi Reichenstein reportedly stemmed from disagreements over team management, with overlapping responsibilities leading to power struggles. Ultimately, Reichenstein remained in his role while Hasson departed. Shacham, a lifelong Hapoel fan and a familiar figure among supporters, has been involved with the basketball team as a board member and sponsor. He previously helped the football club during its financial crisis and currently owns RTMI, a major sponsor of both the football and women’s basketball teams.

Shacham brings extensive business and managerial experience, having owned the football club Hapoel Kfar Saba and leading companies RTMI and Segment. The club indicated that further structural and operational changes are expected in the coming weeks to enhance fan engagement and focus on challenges domestically and in Europe.

Shacham expressed his dedication to the club, highlighting its ongoing growth and the need to balance sporting success with community connection. He affirmed his commitment to competing for all major titles this season, including the national championship, State Cup, and EuroLeague, while maintaining strong ties with the fanbase.
