Parents of Missing Woman Heymenot Kasao Urge Shin Bet to Take Over Investigation

After 911 days since their daughter Heymenot Kasao disappeared from a reception center in Safed on February 25, 2024, her parents, Tesfaye and Benchi Kasao, have formally requested that Shin Bet chief David Zini take over the investigation. In a letter sent on Monday, the parents expressed deep frustration with the police, stating that after more than two and a half years, there is still no information, direction, or clear theory about what happened to their daughter. They also requested a personal meeting with Zini to discuss the investigation’s progress and alleged shortcomings in the police handling of the case.

The family’s appeal follows a similar request made about ten days earlier, emphasizing that Shin Bet has recently been involved in several other missing persons cases and should apply its capabilities to this case as well. The investigation was recently transferred to Lahav 433 after an extended period under the Northern District police. The Kasao family continues to hope that Shin Bet’s involvement will lead to a breakthrough in the case, which has drawn national attention in Israel.
