Legendary Administrator Rabbi Binyamin David Libeskind of Kol Torah Yeshiva Passes Away at 74

Rabbi Binyamin David Libeskind, the legendary physical administrator of the Kol Torah Yeshiva in Jerusalem's Beit Vagan neighborhood, passed away overnight at the age of 74 after enduring severe suffering with acceptance and silence. Born in New York, he was known from a young age for his warm spirit and dedication to communal welfare. After excelling in sociology studies in the United States, he immigrated to Israel, served as a respected Air Force officer, and later founded the senior citizens department in Bnei Brak municipality.

About a decade later, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach personally requested Libeskind to move to Jerusalem and manage Kol Torah Yeshiva. For over 25 years, he developed and expanded the yeshiva campus, caring for thousands of students. Colleagues describe him as a humble, upright man who performed charity discreetly, supporting needy students and at-risk youth.

Even in his final years, despite his pain, Libeskind continued to donate his time, money, and skills to charitable institutions in Jerusalem. His son-in-law, media personality Shimon Breitekopf, eulogized him as a man who dedicated his life to blessing the Jewish people and opened his home and resources to those in need. Rabbi Libeskind's passing is mourned deeply in Jerusalem and beyond.
