Ten Advanced Defibrillators Installed at Major Prayer and Study Sites in Bnei Brak
United Hatzalah has placed ten advanced defibrillators at major Torah and prayer centers across Bnei Brak, in what the organization described as an unprecedented life-saving step for the city. The units and special cabinets were donated by Dr. Michael Buntzle, following a halakhic ruling from Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein that the project is “more important than all acts of charity.”
The devices were installed with the help of United Hatzalah’s Bnei Brak branch at key locations including Ponevezh Yeshiva, Slabodka Yeshiva, Ateret Shlomo, Orchot Torah, the central synagogue in the city center, the PAI Chisda synagogue, Ohr HaTzafon in Kiryat Herzog, the new central synagogue in Kiryat Sifrei in the north, Heichal HaKodesh Sadigura, and Mayleh HaYeshiva in Givat Rokach in the west.
At the dedication event, attended by volunteers, United Hatzalah leadership, and former Health Minister Uriel Buso, branch head Rabbi Mordechai Barzilai said he had seen “his pure heart” and that the decision to dedicate the devices for his father’s memory showed a lasting bond to Torah and charity. Rabbi Sinai Halberstam, the branch rabbi and rabbi of Shikun Gimmel, praised the donation, saying there is no greater mitzvah than saving lives. Dr. Buntzle thanked God for the chance to help save lives and said the defibrillators are already proven to save lives when every second counts.
United Hatzalah said the new equipment gives a major boost to emergency response in a city where the large Torah institutions are filled with thousands of students. Branch head Efi Feldman said the donation creates a “significant addition” to the city’s emergency system and noted that placing accessible defibrillators in the large study halls provides a first response that can save lives.
After the ceremony, Buntzle said he is already working on additional defibrillator donations so that no major Torah or prayer site in the city remains without one.
