Netanyahu Vows to Counter Explosive Drone Threat from Gaza Strip

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the growing threat of explosive drones in the southern region, particularly from the Gaza Strip, in a special video released on Sunday afternoon. Netanyahu warned that even small drones can be deadly, especially when deployed in swarms, and emphasized the difficulty in detecting them. He stated that Israel has been working for several years on solutions to this global problem and considers itself among the most advanced countries in countering drone threats. Netanyahu cited examples of drone use in Ukraine, Lebanon, and Iran, noting attempts to introduce similar threats into Gaza.

The prime minister instructed the security forces and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to do everything possible to neutralize these lethal drones, target their operators, and strike launch sites to protect Israeli citizens, especially in communities near Gaza. Earlier on the same day, Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the IDF to take all necessary measures to prevent drone launches from Gaza toward western Negev settlements. This includes targeting Hamas leaders responsible for such attacks, evacuating launch areas, and acting against terror infrastructure. Katz declared that every drone launch is considered an act of war.

These statements come amid heightened tensions along the Gaza border, with Israeli authorities intensifying efforts to counter new forms of aerial threats posed by militant groups. The government’s approach signals a firm stance on maintaining security and preventing escalation in the volatile southern front.
