Hamas Urges Fighters to Immediately Abandon Mobile Phones Amid Israeli Targeted Killings
Following ongoing targeted killings of its field commanders in the Gaza Strip, Hamas's internal security apparatus has issued an urgent warning to its operatives. The organization expressed heightened concern over Israel's surveillance and intelligence capabilities, prompting a directive for militants to immediately stop using mobile phones and dispose of them without delay. The official warning, published on Hamas's "Al-Haris" channel by its internal security mechanism, emphasized that enemy forces are listening to calls and photographing surroundings via these devices.
The message directly addressed fighters, stating, "Your mobile phone allows the enemy to locate you, listen to your conversations, and photograph your environment. Get rid of your mobile phone immediately to protect yourself and your brothers." To underscore the urgency, the announcement included a graphic illustration of a broken phone being thrown into a trash bin. This move follows the recent Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) killing of a Hamas platoon commander involved in underground tunnel rehabilitation.
Beyond urging the disposal of mobile phones, Hamas's security body called for increased vigilance and strict operational discipline among its operatives. They warned militants not to underestimate any behavior, routine, or circumstance that could expose them to Israeli air force and IDF strikes. Additionally, militants were advised to completely avoid social media use and adopt various preventive safety measures to deny Israeli intelligence any opportunity to track their locations.
