Hamas Says It Will Soon Carry Out Public Executions of Alleged Israeli Informants
A senior Hamas internal security official said the group is preparing to carry out public executions of Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel and taking part in the killings of al-Qassam Brigades operatives. In a statement circulated on Palestinian channels, Hamas said the executions would happen “soon,” but it gave no exact date.
Hamas said the decision came in response to public calls among Palestinians. The group also claimed its forces had captured a person allegedly involved in the killing of Izz ad-Din al-Haddad, a commander in the al-Qassam Brigades. According to the statement, the suspect was arrested while carrying out the operation, and at that moment an Israeli intelligence officer who was in contact with him ended the call.
The organization said its internal security apparatus had made gains in confronting Israeli intelligence activity in the Gaza Strip. It said the use of double agents helped expose many suspects accused of working with Israel.
Hamas added that some of the exposed suspects tried to flee to areas under Israeli security control. The group framed the planned executions as part of an ongoing campaign against Israeli infiltration and intelligence gathering inside the strip.
