Hamas Executes Gaza Informant Linked to Killing of Military Commander

Hamas announced the execution of a Gaza resident accused of aiding Israel with intelligence that led to the assassination of the group’s military leader, Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades commander Ezz al-Din al-Qaddad. The organization accused the man, identified by blogger Abu Ali Express as Mostafa al-Muna, of maintaining ties with Israeli intelligence agencies, which facilitated multiple strikes in Gaza during the recent conflict.

Mostafa al-Muna, a former officer in the Palestinian Authority’s intelligence apparatus, was reportedly related by marriage to al-Qaddad, being married to the sister of al-Qaddad’s son-in-law. According to Hamas-affiliated sources, al-Muna provided Israel with real-time information on al-Qaddad’s movements, including confirming his death at a hospital, and helped Israel target 37 senior Hamas figures throughout the war.

Reports from the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar last month detailed that al-Muna monitored the residence of al-Qaddad’s wife and daughter, tracking him until an opportunity to attack arose. Hamas’s security forces reportedly arrested al-Muna after the killing, extracting a confession about his involvement. Hamas also detained numerous other Gaza residents accused of collaborating with Israel, some of whom were killed while attempting to flee to the so-called "yellow zone."
