Six Suspects Arrested for Brutal Beating Outside Eilat Supermarket

Six suspects were detained following a violent attack on a man outside a supermarket in Eilat, an incident captured on security cameras. According to police, all six participated in the assault, which involved relentless punches and kicks to the victim, including blows to the head while he was on the ground. The footage also shows a woman attempting to intervene and separate the attackers from the victim.

The suspects were quickly arrested and brought in for questioning. They offered varying accounts, including claims that the victim was intoxicated and had tried to run over a woman and child with his car, and that he had acted recklessly, endangering family members of one of the suspects. However, these claims were dismissed as false based on the security footage.

During the investigation, one suspect’s lawyer argued that his client, Alim Terzi, was not clearly identifiable in the video and questioned the motives behind the attack. The police prosecutor stated that all suspects were involved in the violent incident, though they were still examining whether one suspect played an active role or tried to intervene.

The Eilat Magistrate’s Court extended the detention of four suspects for four more days, instructing the police to complete the investigation or at least file an indictment by then. The judge also expressed doubts about the claim that the victim attempted to run someone over before the attack, noting that the video did not support this version. The judge emphasized the suspects’ right to silence, which in this case reinforced the police’s position and the justification for continued detention.

The case remains under investigation as authorities work to clarify the circumstances and prepare for potential prosecution.
