Vizhnitz Rebbe Leads Strict Pilgrimage to Meron With Hundreds of Followers

The Vizhnitz Rebbe of Monsey is set to lead a large spiritual pilgrimage to Israel this week, bringing hundreds of his yeshiva students and followers for a historic Sabbath at the holy site of Meron. This event marks the largest such journey since the Rebbe assumed leadership, with two specially chartered planes arriving in Israel carrying the Rebbe, top students, and large groups of Hasidim. The pilgrimage was promised last year as a reward for students who excelled in their Talmudic studies under the 'Torati' learning program, with the Rebbe adjusting the academic calendar to accommodate the trip during the month of Elul.

The pilgrimage begins Thursday with the Rebbe's arrival and concludes the following Wednesday. During the week, the Rebbe will visit graves of righteous figures and meet with other rabbis and rebbes, culminating in the uplifting Sabbath at Meron. Ahead of the journey, the Rebbe issued strict guidelines during the third meal on Saturday night, forbidding the use of internet-connected devices in public and banning cameras entirely to prevent any photos from being published. He also mandated formal dress including a jacket, hat, and suit throughout all travel segments.

Additionally, the Rebbe emphasized the importance of safety, explicitly prohibiting visits to potentially dangerous locations such as beaches. These measures reflect the Rebbe's desire to maintain spiritual focus and security during the pilgrimage. This large-scale event is unprecedented in its scope for the Vizhnitz community in Monsey and highlights the Rebbe's commitment to fostering religious dedication and unity among his followers.
