Bnei Akiva Recruits Record 314 Youth Leaders for 2023-24 Nationwide

Bnei Akiva, Israel's largest religious Zionist youth movement, is set to welcome 314 youth leaders, known as "komunariyot," to its branches across the country for the 2023-24 activity year, marking a 14% increase from last year’s 275. These young women, serving as part of the national service program, will take on educational and managerial responsibilities, leading training teams and engaging with youth, parents, communities, and local authorities from Kiryat Shmona in the north to Eilat in the south.

The northern region will see the highest number of komunariyot in seven years, with 35 placements, reflecting a strategic focus on strengthening branches in the north and the Gaza envelope to support communities facing ongoing security and social challenges. Additionally, 83 komunariyot have chosen to extend their service for a second year, continuing their educational leadership within the movement.

The selection process was rigorous, involving hundreds of candidates matched carefully to branches and communities. Training concluded last week in Ofra with a seminar emphasizing educational mission, leadership skills, branch management, and community engagement. The program also highlighted the current challenges, the spirit of resilience, and the legacy of IDF soldiers and Bnei Akiva alumni.

Ronya Hadad, Bnei Akiva's Vice President of Human Resources, praised the group, stating, "We are proud to start the year with a wonderful group of komunariyot who choose to be educational leaders in their communities, standing at the forefront of the home front during times that demand courage, strength, and sensitivity. We wish them great success in their educational and social work over the coming year or two."
