Large Fire Crews Battle Brush Fire That Spread to Homes in Bat Ayin

Fire crews were working Sunday evening on multiple fronts in Bat Ayin, trying to stop a brush fire that broke out in open ground and spread to residential buildings and vehicles in the settlement. Because of the difficult terrain and concern that people could be trapped, the response was reinforced and split into several simultaneous sectors to protect nearby homes and contain the blaze.

More than 10 firefighting teams were operating at the scene, with help from neighboring stations and volunteers. Crews were focusing on extinguishing mobile structures and other buildings that caught fire, while also conducting searches for possible trapped residents.

Firefighters were also working to prevent the flames from reaching additional structures and to hold the fire line in the open area near the settlement. The effort remained concentrated on stopping the spread before it could threaten more homes.

Deputy Fire Commissioner Tamir Erez, commander of the Judea regional station, said, “Firefighters and volunteers are operating in a complex fire and in difficult topographic conditions in several scenes simultaneously, in order to save lives and stop the fire line from continuing to spread toward the settlement’s homes.”
