Xiaomi Unveils a Home Robot That Can Plug In and Charge Your EV
Xiaomi has unveiled a home robotic arm for charging electric vehicles, designed to automatically connect to the charging socket, charge the car, and then detach itself when finished. According to reports from China, the company is targeting a launch as early as the fourth quarter of 2026.
The concept is straightforward: a driver parks at home, the system identifies the charging port, moves the arm into position, inserts the plug, and starts charging without any manual handling of the cable. When the battery reaches full charge, or a preset charge level, the arm disconnects and returns the connector to its place. Xiaomi says the product is part of its "human, car, home" strategy, linking the electric vehicle, smart home systems, and control through a single app.
Xiaomi also says the demonstration video was filmed in real use conditions, and that the functions shown are ready for mass production. The company is pitching the system mainly on convenience, including automatic charging after parking, automatic disconnection at the end of the session, and remote activation from a phone as long as the car is within the arm’s operating range.
Reports say the unit is relatively slim, about 152 mm wide, so it should fit even in tighter home parking spaces. Xiaomi has not disclosed a price, has not said which vehicle models will support it first, and it is unclear whether the product will remain limited to China or eventually expand abroad. Compatibility with international charging standards will be a key issue if Xiaomi wants to sell it outside its home market.
