Hundreds March in Northern West Bank to Commemorate Sgt. Beniya Malat on 30th Day Since Killing
Hundreds participated in a commemorative march from Gilad Farm to northern Samaria in memory of Sgt. Beniya Malat, whose 30th day since his killing falls on Friday. The event began at 7:30 a.m. with a convoy of vehicles decorated with Israeli flags and images of Malat departing from Gilad Farm. The march route passed through Shuva Israel Farm, the settlement of Shanor, and Joseph's Pit, concluding at Neveh Farm in northern Samaria.
During the march, participants reflected on the landscape and historical landmarks of the area. Beniya Malat's brother, Yehuda Malat, pointed out various sites along the route, including a historic British water pump once used for irrigation and facilities for sheep care such as a water pit, trough, and designated passage. He also noted a nearby settlement that was recently established, describing the scenery as "beautiful Land of Israel in a grand way."
At Joseph's Pit, Beniya's mother, Segula Malat, spoke about the significance of the location, emphasizing its importance as a place of mourning and historical pain for the Jewish people. Another brother, Amichav Malat, highlighted the connection between land and Jewish presence, stating that where there is no water, there are scorpions and snakes, just as there are no Jewish settlements in such places.
The march served both as a tribute to Sgt. Malat and as a reflection on the historical and ongoing connection to the land in the northern West Bank region.
