Five Charged After Drug Deal Turns Violent in Northern Israel

A drug deal gone wrong in Kiryat Shmona escalated into a violent incident involving a hit-and-run, an axe and club attack, and attempts to obstruct police investigation. According to police, two 20-year-olds arrived at the home of a 59-year-old local with an outstanding debt to conduct a drug transaction. When the client could not fully pay, the two left and met a third 20-year-old suspect before returning to the victim's home. On the way, the driver accelerated toward and lightly injured the client’s brother or friend walking on the street. Upon arrival, the suspects assaulted the client with an axe and clubs, causing serious injuries. A fourth suspect, aged 70, arrived at the scene and helped the three young men flee. Later, a 22-year-old came to the police station claiming he was the driver, attempting to mislead investigators. Further inquiry revealed the attackers tried to convince him to falsely accuse unknown assailants of the attack. All five suspects were arrested across Israel. The Southern District Prosecutor’s Office filed indictments in Nazareth court charging them with aggravated assault, drug trafficking and supply, aiding aggravated assault, obstruction of justice, intimidation, and possession of drugs not for personal use.
