Iran Accuses Washington of Pressuring for Unagreed Concessions Amid Rising Tensions

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf sharply criticized the United States for increasing pressure on Tehran to accept concessions not included in their previous memorandum of understanding. In a tweet posted overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday, Qalibaf accused Washington of expecting Iran to yield to demands beyond the original agreement signed in Islamabad. He warned the U.S. to stop waiting for a "clown team" to clean up the chaos they created, signaling frustration with American tactics.

This statement follows U.S. President Donald Trump's recent remarks denying ongoing talks with Iran, contradicting his earlier claims of continuous negotiations. Trump reaffirmed that the sanctions on Iran remain fully in place despite Tehran's demands for their removal as a precondition for dialogue.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai denied claims by the United Arab Emirates that Iran launched two ballistic missiles toward the UAE. He condemned such accusations as harmful to regional trust-building efforts and escalation-prevention initiatives.

The escalating tensions come amid Iran's worsening economic crisis, with senior officials acknowledging that further U.S. economic blows could trigger dramatic consequences, including renewed civil unrest. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian admitted that the country's problems have multiplied while revenues have dropped. The maritime blockade and infrastructure damage have intensified shortages of essential goods and fuel, pushing inflation to 66 percent and food prices up by 128 percent.

These developments underscore the deepening rift between Washington and Tehran, with no immediate resolution in sight.
