Iran Accuses US of Violating Agreements to End Hostilities
The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a strong statement on Thursday accusing the United States of breaching the understandings reached between the two countries aimed at ending hostilities. Tehran claimed that a series of actions taken by Washington, including repeated attacks on Iran and the US Treasury's decision to revoke the license for Iranian oil sales, rendered key parts of the agreement ineffective. These measures were said to violate commitments under Article 10 of the memorandum of understanding between the nations.
Iran further condemned violations in the Strait of Hormuz and described ongoing US military aggression and what it called "terrorist actions by the Zionist regime against Lebanon" as significant breaches undermining the peace deal. The Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the US regime bears full responsibility for the dangerous escalation and the resulting tensions, holding Washington accountable for future developments.
This statement comes amid rising tensions between Iran and the US, with both sides recently exchanging accusations over violations of the agreements and continued military and economic activities in the region.
