Iran Accuses US of Violating Nuclear Agreement Following New Sanctions

In response to recent US sanctions, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on X that Iran has upheld its commitments under the nuclear agreement, while accusing the US Treasury Secretary of violating Article 9 of the memorandum of understanding. Araghchi emphasized that Iran has maintained its obligations despite other breaches and errors by the United States, asserting that compliance must be mutual. Article 9 of the memorandum specifies that until a final agreement is reached, both the US and Iran agree to maintain the status quo: Iran will preserve its current nuclear program status, and the US will refrain from imposing new sanctions or deploying additional forces in the region.
