New Torah Scroll Dedicated in Emotional Ceremony in Kiryat Ata
A new Torah scroll was ceremoniously introduced to the "Ram VeNisa" synagogue in Kiryat Ata following its donation to Ms. Ben Hamo, who won it in the annual lottery held by the Yad L'Achim organization. The scroll, meticulously handwritten by a scribe who attended the event, was dedicated in a heartfelt ceremony in the Givat Tal neighborhood, attended by many local residents and the winner's family. The scroll bears the Ben Hamo family name and a dedication in memory of Ms. Ben Hamo's parents, marking a deeply personal moment for the family who have long honored their parents through mitzvot. Seven elder siblings from the Ben Hamo family participated by writing the final letters of the Torah, each adding a letter to the scroll. The celebration included a joyous procession through Kiryat Ata's main street with singing and dancing, followed by a festive meal where Yad L'Achim representatives praised the family and the mitzvah of honoring parents. Rabbis Yoav Robinson, Chaim Kahn, and Chaim Eisenberg personally blessed the family, wishing that the Torah scroll brings ongoing blessing and joy. This event marks the 16th consecutive year of the Torah scroll lottery, with all proceeds dedicated to the mitzvah of redeeming captives. Yad L'Achim consistently supports and participates actively in the preparations and ceremony each year.
