Hundreds of students and residents took part in the הכנסת ספר תורה, the bringing of a new Torah scroll into the yeshiva in Rosh HaAyin. Yeshiva head Rabbi Gilad Hala said, “The great joy we saw in the streets of the city is an expression of the love of Torah and of the special bond that exists between the yeshiva and the residents.”

A moving ceremony was held on Sunday at the Hesder yeshiva “Orot Moshe” in Rosh HaAyin, with the הכנסת ספר תורה of a new and beautifully adorned Torah scroll into the yeshiva sanctuary. Hundreds of students, alumni, city residents and guests accompanied the Torah scroll in a festive procession through the city streets, with singing, dancing and circles of celebration. Among those honoring the event with their presence were the city’s chief rabbi, Rabbi Yechiel Basis, Mayor Raz Sagi, community rabbis, city council members and other public figures, who congratulated the community on strengthening Torah life in the city and on the yeshiva’s contribution to communal life.

The event began with the writing of the final letters in the Torah scroll, and when the scroll arrived at the yeshiva, a ceremony was held to bring it into the sanctuary, followed by a seudat mitzvah attended by a wide ציבור. The Torah scroll was donated by Mordechai Hala and his family, a cousin of the yeshiva head, in memory of his father, R. Aharon ben Yechiya, may his memory be blessed, and for the complete recovery of his son, Nehorai Yosef ben Shira u'Mordechai.

“The great joy we saw in the streets of Rosh HaAyin is an expression of the love of Torah and of the special bond that exists between the yeshiva and the city’s residents,” said yeshiva head Rabbi Gilad Hala. “Seeing students, alumni, families and children dancing together around the Torah scroll is a great privilege for us. We thank the dear donor and his family for the important gift they gave the yeshiva, and we pray that בזכות התורה הקדושה they will merit blessing, salvation and a complete recovery. With God’s help, we will continue to expand the boundaries of Torah and holiness and illuminate the face of Torah for all the city’s residents and the surrounding area.”

Yeshiva director Yitzhak Yair Tanami added, “The yeshiva proudly marks 15 years of work in charity, Zionism and Torah in the city. We started as a small nucleus, and today, thank God, the yeshiva is bustling with life and has about 120 excellent students who are the Torah vanguard of the region. This Torah scroll dedication marks a new stage of growth for us. We are now, in these very days, on the verge of a historic moment, the start of construction of the yeshiva’s magnificent permanent building, which will be erected in the city center. The new building will allow us to double our ranks, deepen our blessed work for the community, and serve as an even stronger and more central spiritual anchor for all the residents of Rosh HaAyin.”
