Hili Trooper Rules Out Joining Netanyahu-Led Government Amid Coalition Talks
Hili Trooper, chairman of the Beit Tzioni-Miluimnikim party, publicly declared his party's principles and coalition stance in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. While affirming the party's Zionist identity and willingness to work to expand the government, Trooper firmly stated that his party will not join any government led by Benjamin Netanyahu. This echoes his July interview with 103FM, where he said his party would not support a Netanyahu-led coalition and rejected alliances with non-Zionist parties.
Trooper emphasized that anyone involved in the events of October 7 should step down from their roles, implicitly criticizing Netanyahu's leadership. He said, "I will not complete Netanyahu's 61-seat majority, as it relies on non-Zionist forces, and I cannot be part of such a coalition." Despite this, Trooper did not rule out future political partnerships ahead of the elections but noted that no concrete moves are currently underway. "If relevant alliances arise, we will join, but right now there is nothing specific on the table," he said.
Regarding the current government, Trooper criticized it for allying with draft dodgers while reservists are repeatedly sent to the front lines. He also touched on his relations with Gadi Eisenkot, the possibility of political mergers, and the contentious issue of evacuating settlements in Judea and Samaria. Trooper's statements clarify his party's position as Zionist and opposed to Netanyahu's leadership, signaling a potential reshaping of coalition dynamics ahead of upcoming elections.
