Maccabi Kiryat Gat Negotiates with Veteran Striker James Adeniyi for Liga Leumit Move
Maccabi Kiryat Gat, newly promoted to Israel's Liga Leumit (second division), is in advanced talks with Nigerian striker James Adeniyi, a seasoned player in the Israeli Premier League. Adeniyi, who spent six years in the top division, played last season for Bnei Sakhnin and Hapoel Petah Tikva. Although Hapoel Raanana's coach Adam Lam showed interest in signing him, the club's management blocked the move. In the past 24 hours, Kiryat Gat's coach Roman Zulu contacted Adeniyi, leading to negotiations with his agent Nir Amir. The agent was invited to meet the team at their hotel ahead of their first match against Hapoel Akko. Over his 100 appearances in the Premier League, Adeniyi scored 17 goals and provided 12 assists, having started his career at Ironi Kiryat Shmona and later playing for Maccabi Petah Tikva, Hapoel Hadera, Hapoel Petah Tikva, and Bnei Sakhnin.
