Maccabi Kiryat Gat Negotiates with Veteran Striker James Adeniyi for National League Move
Maccabi Kiryat Gat, newly promoted to Israel's National League, is in advanced talks with Nigerian striker James Adeniyi, who has spent six years playing in the Israeli Premier League. Adeniyi, a seasoned foreign player in the top division, played last season for Bnei Sakhnin and Hapoel Petah Tikva. Although Hapoel Raanana's coach Adam Lam showed interest in signing him, the club's management blocked the move.
In the past 24 hours, Kiryat Gat initiated contact, with coach Roman Zolo personally speaking to Adeniyi. Negotiations then proceeded with his agent Nir Amir, who was invited to meet the team at their hotel ahead of their first match against Hapoel Akko. Over his 100 appearances in the Premier League, Adeniyi scored 17 goals and provided 12 assists. His career in Israel began at Ironi Kiryat Shmona, followed by stints at Maccabi Petah Tikva, Hapoel Hadera, Hapoel Petah Tikva, and Bnei Sakhnin.
This potential transfer marks Adeniyi's continuation in Israeli football, now stepping down to the second tier with a club aiming to establish itself in the National League.
