A source familiar with the matter said that U.S. President Donald Trump updated Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he is determined to sign the agreement with Iran. The same source said Qatar is pressing the Iranians to agree to sign a memorandum of understanding as early as tonight, in order to close the matter and prevent escalation.
According to the source, Qatar also persuaded Trump that the Israeli strike in the Dahieh district was intended to derail the agreement, and that this is why the president sees urgency in moving ahead with the deal. No further details of the proposed agreement were given.
