Bride and Groom Detained After Causing Traffic Jams in Negev Wedding Convoy

A bride and groom were detained by police after creating a wedding convoy that caused significant traffic jams on roads in the Negev region over the past weekend. The couple was taken to the 'Ayrot' police station in southern Israel, under the jurisdiction of the Negev district police. After investigation, they were released with a warning against disrupting public order on the roads, as their actions were deemed life-threatening.

The incident was highlighted by National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who warned that anyone thinking they can drive recklessly on Negev roads should reconsider. The phenomenon of wedding convoys causing traffic disruptions and dangerous driving is common in the Bedouin sector of the Negev, especially on weekends. These convoys often involve dozens of vehicles, reckless driving, road blockages, traffic violations, and sometimes even celebratory gunfire, posing risks to other road users and prompting numerous complaints.

Police continue to enforce traffic laws in the Negev to prevent such hazardous behavior. The recent detention of the bride and groom serves as a reminder of the authorities' commitment to maintaining road safety and public order during wedding celebrations.
