Israeli Police Arrest Palestinian Groom for Driving Without License, Seize Wedding Car

Israeli police in the Judea and Samaria district stopped a wedding convoy over the weekend and arrested a 22-year-old Palestinian groom from the village of Raboud for driving without a license. The groom’s decorated wedding car was also impounded for 30 days. The police operation, conducted by the Etzion station during a broad enforcement campaign targeting serious traffic violations and road violence, uncovered that the vehicle’s license plates were completely concealed as part of the wedding procession.

When stopped, the groom initially claimed he had a digital copy of his driver’s license on his phone but soon admitted he had never obtained a license. He was taken for investigation on charges including driving without a license and driving a vehicle with falsified registration marks. The police hope the incident will serve as a lesson to others.

In a related case the same night, police stopped an 18-year-old Palestinian from Hebron who was also driving without a license for the second time in a year. He was arrested and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days following a hearing.

During the weekend crackdown in the Judea region, police issued 179 traffic citations for serious offenses, including illegal overtaking, severe vehicle defects, and distracted driving using mobile phones. Fourteen drivers had their licenses revoked, and 17 vehicles were taken off the road due to dangerous conditions or violations. The police emphasized their commitment to continuing strict enforcement to improve road safety and remove dangerous drivers from the roads.
