Younes Melida Signs Three-Year Deal with Hapoel Be'er Sheva
Hapoel Be'er Sheva announced on Sunday the surprising signing of forward Younes Melida to a three-year contract. Melida, 26, arrives from Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he had limited playing time. He is expected to make his debut for Be'er Sheva in the upcoming UEFA Champions League playoff match against Sabah later this week. Melida expressed his excitement, saying, "I am happy and excited to join the national champions and grateful to the coaching staff for their trust in me. The club faces very important goals, and together with my new teammates, we will do everything to achieve each one."
Melida began his professional career at Maccabi Netanya and was transferred to Belgian club Gent in January 2021. He also played for Mechelen before returning to the Israeli Premier League, signing with Maccabi Tel Aviv in January 2024 on a 3.5-year contract. His move to Hapoel Be'er Sheva is seen as an opportunity to gain more playing time with the reigning Israeli champions.
