i24NEWS Crew Attacked While Filming Antisemitism Report in Belfast
Last week in Belfast, an i24NEWS team was assaulted while filming a report on antisemitism. Reporter Yonatan Rohe and cameraman Nadav Abas were interviewing passersby in a bar district when a man, realizing they were Israeli, attempted to seize their camera equipment. When security personnel were called, the assailant threw a large beer glass at Abas, striking him in the head and causing a bleeding cut. The crew left the scene immediately; Abas did not require further medical treatment and both team members are in good condition. Following the incident, they returned to Israel.
This attack occurred during the production of a documentary series on rising antisemitism worldwide, which Rohe has been working on for several months. Previous segments were filmed in Spain and New York and aired on i24NEWS's main and international channels. The Belfast footage, part of the third documentary in the series, is expected to be broadcast soon on i24NEWS's main edition.
