Son Appointed to Lead Spinka Hasidic Dynasty Following Father's Death at 58

The Spinka Hasidic community mourned the passing of Rabbi Shmuel Tzvi Despinka, the Admor of Beit Shmuel Tzvi Spinka, who died at age 58 after a serious illness. His funeral took place last Thursday afternoon in Williamsburg, New York, where his recently written will was publicly read. The will emphasized the continuation of the dynasty's leadership through his three sons, all esteemed Torah scholars and devout individuals.

Rabbi David Moshe Horowitz, the eldest son, was appointed to succeed his father as the Admor of Beit Shmuel Tzvi Spinka. His appointment coincided with his 37th birthday. Rabbi David Moshe is also the son-in-law of Israel Yosef Kahn, head of the "Be'er Yosef" kollelim, and is known for his humility and wisdom. He has long supported his father in leading the community, especially during the latter's illness.

The second son, Rabbi Yoel Horowitz, resides in Israel's Ganei Tikva neighborhood and is the son-in-law of the Admor of Sasov. He is recognized as a Torah teacher and spiritual guide and is expected to establish an independent Spinka court in Israel soon. The youngest son, Rabbi Shmuel Tzvi Horowitz, named after his grandfather, lives in Borough Park and is the son-in-law of Israel Schneibalg, the Av Beit Din of Tshernovitz. Despite his youth, he is respected for his Torah knowledge and leadership and cared for his father during his final illness.

Following the reading of the will, many Hasidim approached the new Admorim with notes and blessings, expressing their support and hopes for their long leadership. The will praised all three sons and instructed them to continue their father's path by establishing courts and study halls in his memory both in the United States and Israel.
