Channel 14 Polls Detect Israeli Political Trends Weeks Before Competitors
An analysis of dozens of polls from the past two years reveals that Channel 14, led by pollster Shlomo Filber, consistently identifies significant political trends in Israel weeks or even months before other major broadcasters like Channels 12 and 11. This pattern raises questions about whether Channel 14 employs more accurate sampling methods or if critics’ claims of "consciousness engineering" hold merit.
Four key case studies illustrate this trend. First, in summer 2024, Channel 14 polls showed Likud at a low of 24 seats, but after September’s security events, including the "pager operation," the killing of Hassan Nasrallah, and an attack in Iran, the channel detected a sharp rise to 33 seats and a right-wing bloc majority of 62 seats. Meanwhile, Channels 12 and 11 still showed Likud around 22-23 seats and a coalition of about 51 seats, only later reflecting the shift.
Second, Channel 14 identified the decline of Benny Gantz and the National Unity party early. In May 2024, while Channel 12 portrayed Gantz as the election winner with 29 seats, Channel 14 showed only 19 seats, signaling a downward trend that deepened to a collapse to 7 seats by March 2025. Competitor polls continued to show 15-16 seats during that period.
Third, Channel 14 detected the rise of Yair Golan on the left early on, assigning him 8 seats in May 2024 and later projecting up to 17 seats by early 2025, while other channels reported significantly lower numbers until later adjustments.
Fourth, in April 2026, Channel 14 polls showed Gadi Eizenkot overtaking Naftali Bennett as the leading figure in the anti-Netanyahu bloc, a shift that Channels 12 and others only acknowledged two months later.
These four examples demonstrate Channel 14’s consistent ability to spot major shifts in Israeli political dynamics ahead of other media outlets, highlighting trends such as Likud’s strengthening, Gantz’s weakening, Golan’s rise, and Eizenkot’s ascent over Bennett.
