Israeli Sisters Mali and Liel Yehalomi Found in Argentina After Elaborate Escape

Israeli police revealed that Mali and Liel Yehalomi, who disappeared last week, likely attempted to mislead investigators by creating the impression they were still in Vienna. The sisters reportedly filmed videos in Vienna intended for their family but sent them only after moving on to another country.

A massive investigation involving around 300 intelligence and police officers from the Israeli Police's Lahav 433 and Intelligence Division worked around the clock to trace their movements. The investigation concluded the disappearance was premeditated, with the sisters first arriving in the Czech Republic, where phones can be purchased without ID, then traveling to Vienna, and finally to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where they were located.

Mali's brother, Ronen Yehalomi, said the last video was sent from their Vienna apartment on Friday, after which the family lost contact. Police believe the sisters planned to continue to another undisclosed destination from Argentina. The motive appears linked to personal financial issues. After questioning, the sisters were released as no criminal suspicions arose. Police confirmed the sisters left voluntarily and are safe.

The police operation included multiple command posts worldwide, cooperation with Europol and other international agencies, and extensive intelligence efforts. Police Chief Danny Levi emphasized the Israeli Police's global operational capabilities. The case highlights the complexity and scale of the investigation to locate the missing Israeli women abroad.
