Crime Rings Take Over Luxury Towers in Tel Aviv, Causing Major Damage and Fear
In recent years, organized crime members and senior criminals have moved into luxury residential towers in central and northern Tel Aviv, according to residents and property owners. These individuals have been hosting loud parties, threatening neighbors, and causing extensive property damage. One tenant, identified as G., a man in his 30s who claimed to be a partner in a large tech company, rented a four-room apartment in a high-end tower with amenities like a pool and 24-hour security. Despite paying a large deposit and rent upfront, he later stopped paying rent for five months, held wild parties involving drugs and loud music, and threatened neighbors with violence, including using pitbull dogs and threatening to attack with explosive drones.
A neighbor recounted fearing to call the police due to G.'s criminal connections and intimidation tactics. One resident reported receiving a direct threat that a drone bomb would be used against her home if she continued to complain. The apartment owner, Dalia (a pseudonym), had to engage lawyers and go through a lengthy court process to evict G., who left the apartment severely damaged with estimated repairs costing around 200,000 shekels.
Sources indicate that over the past three years, dozens of criminals affiliated with crime organizations have settled in luxury towers in neighborhoods such as Tzameret, Blue Complex, Kochav HaTzafon, and Ramat Aviv. Residents report ongoing violent rivalries, including grenade attacks, shootings, and bomb placements near these buildings. Attempts to confront or legally remove these criminals have been largely ineffective due to fear among neighbors and the criminals’ use of surveillance cameras and steel doors to monitor and control access.
In one case, police removed surveillance cameras installed by a recently released senior criminal after an anonymous complaint from a resident. Despite the high property values, many owners find it difficult to sell due to the criminal presence and the resulting fear and disruption. Residents describe a climate of terror, with threats of violence and property destruction commonplace, severely impacting the quality of life in these upscale buildings.
